Most business owners who are behind on their books did not get there by being careless. It happens one busy month at a time. You meant to categorize last month's transactions, then this month got busy too, and now it has been a while and the thought of opening QuickBooks feels worse than just not looking. If that is where you are, you are not the first, and it is fixable. This applies whether you're in Jacksonville proper or out in St. Augustine and World Golf Village, everything here is handled remotely either way.
What catch-up bookkeeping actually involves
Catch-up bookkeeping means going back through every month you are behind and doing the real work: pulling bank and card statements, categorizing every transaction, reconciling accounts against what the bank actually shows, and producing clean monthly financials for the period you missed. By the end, you have a full, accurate picture of your business for every month, not just going forward from today.
Why catching up matters, even if nobody is asking for it yet
A few things tend to happen to business owners who stay behind. Tax time turns into a scramble and a bigger CPA bill, because your CPA is doing cleanup work at their hourly rate instead of just filing. You lose the ability to answer basic questions about your own business, like whether last quarter was actually profitable. And if a bank, an SBA lender, or a buyer ever asks for financials, you have nothing current to hand them. Getting current fixes all three at once.
How the process works
Free call to assess the backlog
We talk through how far behind you are, what accounts and cards are involved, and roughly how many transactions we are dealing with. Takes about 20 minutes.
Flat quote, upfront
Based on how many months and how much transaction volume, you get one flat number for the whole catch-up project. No hourly billing, no surprise invoice at the end.
We do the work, month by month
Every backlogged month gets categorized, reconciled, and turned into real financials. You get updates as we go, not just a single result at the end.
You're current, and we keep it that way
Once you're caught up, most clients move into monthly bookkeeping so this never happens again.
Not sure if you need a full catch-up or just a cleanup?
If you are only a month or so behind, or your books exist but are messy rather than missing, that is closer to a cleanup than a full catch-up. Either way it is the same first step: check the signs your books need attention or just book the free call and we will tell you honestly which situation you're in.
Catch-up bookkeeping comes up constantly for two groups in particular: Jacksonville real estate investors juggling multiple properties, and contractors who are heads-down running jobs and let the books slide. If that's you, you are in good company, and it is fixable.
Ready to stop avoiding it?
A free 20-minute call tells you exactly how far behind you are, what it would cost to catch up, and how long it would take. No pressure either way.

How far back can you catch up my books?
There is no real limit. Most catch-up projects run anywhere from three months to two or three years behind. The further back it goes, the longer it takes, but it is fixable either way.
Will I get in trouble for filing late?
Late or missing bookkeeping by itself is not a legal problem. The risk shows up if it has caused you to miss tax filings or payments. Getting your books current is usually the first step toward fixing that, and it puts you in a much better position to deal with the IRS if a notice is involved.
How long does catch-up bookkeeping take?
A few months behind usually wraps up in one to two weeks. A full year or more typically takes three to six weeks depending on transaction volume and how organized your records already are.
What does catch-up bookkeeping cost?
It is priced by the month of backlog and transaction volume, quoted flat after a free call so you know the number upfront. There is no hourly billing and no surprise invoice at the end.
